About this webcomic!
Once upon a time, I felt like drawing yet another webcomic! But there was a cool idea lurking beneath the surface. I wanted to do an RPG based comic, cause I was into a lot of old skool final fantasy games and had been playing them again recently.
So there was the idea for this grand epic of good and evil. Of course, this is a rather tried and true theme in every single one I could recall, and another one would be fine, but sometimes it was also interesting to see what was going on with the bad guys. So I worked out a main story, and this webcomic would follow the good guys point of view, while the webcomic Section 12 would follow the story from the bad guys point of view. Same situations, different views...(comic here)
Basically I wrote out a loose guideline for what was going to happen in each chapter, so the events of chapter 4, for example, are happening at the same time as the events in chapter 4 of the other comic. They will be interseting rather soon, actually. heh. However, due to the schedules, Section 12 is a tad behind in real time. Oh well.
After this I draw the pages, keeping in mind what I want to happen in the chapter. Most of the time I draw in front of the tv, watching Law and Order or forensics shows (yay!), which isn't really the best drawing habit, but I basically picked up everything in a "do what I can whenever I can" sort of style. Anyways, for a more detailed look at my whole process, check out the tutorial I've written. I use a 8.5x11 sketch book with thick paper (110 lbs. weight) so i can draw on both sides to save paper, and draw using non-photo blue mechanical pencil lead. Yup, a mechanical pencil. After that, I ink with a roller-ball pen (one of those medium Uniball Vision pens) and then a thicker pen, felt tip by Papermate. I buy them in bulk at my local office supply store. However, it's not waterproof or archival inks, just regular writing pens, so it probably won't keep so well.
I scan it in, color and fix mistakes on the computer using Photoshop and a pen tablet. Then I optimize and letter using Image Ready since I'm making it for the web. (72 dpi, yo!). I make the website using either UltraEdit or Notepad, depending on what computer I am using, upload and there it is. whew.
It's a lot of fun. :) Although- I can't believe it's been 3 years! Well, on the web. The ideas are from late 2000 or so.
